We took a quick road trip with just Tortik (Ch Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI)) off to Canberra for the Royal late in the week. Although I haven't done Canberra Royal much (only once from memory, as it is usually a bit hot for me), a Finnish judge being appointed led a few of us to dust off the road tires, and we had a lovely entry of 35 lappies. It was great to catch up with a few I haven't seen in a long time (and some youngsters never). I was incredibly proud when Tortik was the final Best of Breed winner under judge Mr H Lehkonen, even more so when he then shortlisted him down to his final cut for Best in Group. We made a whirlwind trip back home, stopping at the Berwick A&H Society Show in Tortik's way home, where he finished off the weekend with a Best Intermediate in Group. Unfortunately we were knocked out before we could get into the general specials weeked. That will be our last show for a while as we prepare to welcome new Armahani babies into the world.

We had the most amazing news from Canada from this weekend, where Tahvo (Am Grand Ch & Can Grand Ch Armahani Diamond Davvenasti), has returned from the USA for another showing holiday. At his first weekend back, over four shows he took out two Group 1sts and two Group 2nds, and then did the big one going BEST IN SHOW under Canadian judge Grant Townsend. Tahvo is owned by Linda Marden, Kathy Knapp and Gene Hayes in the USA. And is handled by Connie Crohn and Trina Neil in Canada. We were out showing at Bulla today with the boys, Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat) joining us in the ring again, after a bit of a break, at the Twilight Canine Country Club. He didn't disappoint, as per normal wowing the judge, who thought he was just stunning, and coming home with Best Neuter in Group. Benni (Ch Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili (AI)) and Fleur (Armahani Iolite Ilo (AI)) were back showing in Tasmania today, continuing their shared winning streak. This morning it was Benni's turn with another Runner Up in Group and Intermediate in Group - his third for the year. And then this afternoon Fleur showed him how it was done with another Puppy in Group - also her third for the year. Way to go Rachael. We were thrilled to confirm by ultrasound today that our beautiful Baby (Am Ch Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing RN (Imp USA)) is expecting puppies! With a semen thaw that didn't go as well as we were hoping, we weren't holding our breath that Baby had taken, and for most of the last four weeks I had my doubts until the last one, where Baby started showing signs that things may indeed be happening! Our Kunzite litter will be due on the 8 March, and the very handsome sire is Int Ch Fin Ch By Ch Lecibsin Harto (Fin). Arttu (pictured) is a lovely boy, with a super friendly, happy temperament, who loves showing, and has produced some just stunning progeny in Finland. So we are pretty excited to pair him for Baby for her first litter. It will be more than a little exciting to have puppy breath here again! |
